Jessica Bolevin

Illustrator

I am a third-year Illustration student at Edinburgh College of Art, where I am currently developing my storytelling, experimentation, and visual communication. My work often explores personal and collective history, and I am particularly drawn to illustration projects that engage with heritage and social change.

Pattern and collage are central to my creative process. I enjoy layering texture, colour, and found materials to build rich, detailed compositions. Collage allows me to work intuitively and responsively, letting materials guide the visual direction of each piece. Whether I'm illustrating a narrative, or editorial pieces, these methods give me the freedom to blend traditional and digital techniques.

Studying at Edinburgh College of Art has encouraged me to be thoughtful and curious in my approach to image-making. The environment here has allowed me to explore new mediums, collaborate with peers, and refine my voice as an illustrator. I’ve learned to value both the process and the message behind each piece, striving to create work that feels honest, engaging, and visually compelling.

Looking ahead, I hope to continue experimenting and developing my create practice, and continue building upon my portfolio of work.
